As Will County Executive, Larry Walsh serves as the chief county officer and is responsible for the day to day administration of 19 county departments. The County Executive’s duties include presiding over the monthly County Board meetings, overseeing the budget process, introducing new policy, and appointing local residents to various commissions, committees, and board throughout the county.
Will County offers many important services to its residents through the Health Department, Workforce Services, Veterans’ Affairs Commission, the Land Use Department and Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Preserving quality of life for residents, while encouraging economic growth, remains the primary focus of the office of county executive.
At present, Will County continues to operate as the only of Illinois’ 102 counties with a County Executive. With a population of more than 680,000 residents, Will County is the fourth most populated county in the state of Illinois.
